Pastor Larry's Biography
The Rev. Lawrence D. Yerger received his Masters of Divinity Degree from Columbia Theological Seminary of Decatur, GA in June 1994. He is a Second Career Pastor having entered the pastoral ministry after a 13 year career in Biomedical Research at Mt. Sinai Medical Center of Miami Beach. Pastor Larry simultaneously served two churches in the far Northern reaches of rural Minnesota for nine years before being Called to Wintergarden Presbyterian Church in February 2004. Living in a small town of less than 500 people gave Pastor Larry the opportunities to do ministry in a practical sense by becoming involved in community affairs, city government as a member of the City Council, Vice Mayor and Police Commissioner while also serving on various County Boards and Habitat for Humanity. Pastor Larry greatly enjoys the outdoors and derives great joy from fishing, hunting, snorkeling and SCUBA diving. He does much of the work involved in keeping up a house including - but not limited to - plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. He is also an avid reader and will read almost anything - including the back of cereal boxes if he gets desperate. Pastor Larry has been married to Andrea (his high school sweetheart) for 26 years. They have a son, Joseph, who - like both of his parents - is a graduate of the University of West Florida. They share their home with 3 cats and 5 parrots. Andrea, Joseph and Pastor Larrys mother, Phyllis, are all members of Wintergarden. We have had much to be thankful for over the years and expect God to continue blessing us as we do His work in the years to come.
